Half past five in the morning – a time associated with nothing but slumber. However, tomorrow, over one-thousand people will be turning Nottingham purple for the Smooth Sunrise City 5k.
A pathway to discovering your city in a new light, this non-competitive 5k run or walk is a celebration of family, health and exercise, encouraging everyone, regardless of running ability, to hit the streets in the light of the morning.
Event Director, Nik Emmonds said: “We’re really looking forward to turning the streets of Nottingham purple tomorrow.
“We have a fantastic route for people to enjoy, taking in landmarks such as Nottingham Castle and the Olde Trip to Jersualem, and a beautiful section along the Notts-Beeston canal which looks at its best when the sun is rising.
Furthermore, local business have been quick to support the run, Nik added: “The partners involved in the event have strong Nottingham links and bases, from Smooth East Midlands as our title partners, through big institutions like Ikano Bank to independent start ups like 200 Degrees, Kerry’s Fresh and Virtual Runner.
“The support of Nottingham City Council is a big factor in the event and shows again that the city is committed to hosting unique, world class events that the residents can enjoy. We are delighted to announce that the event has sold out, we can’t thank our participants enough and can’t wait to see them all.”
Phil Hudson, Head of Commercial at Smooth East Midlands said: “Smooth Radio East Midlands is delighted to be partnering with the Sunrise City 5K to raise money for Smooth’s charity Global’s Make Some Noise.
“It’s an amazing event and we’re very pleased to give our listeners the opportunity to see Nottingham in a different light, running through the city as it wakes up!”
The Nottingham event has now sold-out, with no one the day entries being taken for health and saftey reasons.
However, there are the Leicester and Derby routes to come on the 7th and 14th July respectively.
